Robert Tweed papers, 1843-1898.

Chiefly letters, 1843-1861, from William and Clara Young, Scottish immigrants and planters of Jefferson County, Miss., to Tweed, a relative who was then a merchant in New Orleans, La., and New York, N.Y. The letters discuss family and neighborhood news, religion, temperance, and politics. A few were written while the Youngs were on a return trip to Scotland. Also included is a two-volume diary, 1874-1898, of Louisa Vanuxem Tweed (1822-1899), wife of Robert, recording domestic matters and weather in Jefferson County.
